The Plex is one of San Jose’s go-to hubs where sports, family, and community come together under one roof. It's a destination to watch, play, celebrate, and connect. The new site needed to reflect that balance: professional and streamlined, yet approachable and fun enough to welcome everyone.
We designed the UX to make The Plex’s wide range of offerings easy to navigate. The clean layout and organized structure are balanced with subtle touches of color and playful patterns nodding to the energy of the community it serves. The result is a digital home that feels both functional and vibrant.

Transforming scale
into clarity.

Evolving The Digital Presence
The Plex already had a recognizable brand and our goal was never to reinvent it, but rather refine and translate it for digital. We took the existing visual identity and refreshed it for web use, ensuring colors, typography, and layouts felt just as bold and energetic online as they do in person. We also took the time to develop UX Systems alongside the team of developers. The result? A site that stays true to The Plex’s brand while giving it a polished, contemporary edge tailored for today’s digital experience.

Mobile First
Our design approach began mobile-first, the standard in today’s digital landscape and especially vital for The Plex’s audience: families, athletes, and community members who are always on the go. Streamlined navigation, intuitive user flows, and approachable visuals made it easy to explore offerings quickly and clearly from any device. This foundation turned a complex information system into something simple, engaging, and fun to use right from your phone.

Desktop Design
After mobile was fleshed out, we moved to desktop. Building on the mobile foundation with a fuller, more spacious layout. The space given to us with larger screens gave us the opportunity to showcase The Plex’s diverse programming and community-driven offerings in greater depth, while keeping the same clarity, structure, and energy. Together, the two experiences create a cohesive digital presence that feels intuitive, professional, and true to The Plex brand.

The Plex project was a true team effort. By working closely with their developers and internal team, we translated a complex set of needs into a clear, engaging digital experience. The process reminded us that collaboration is as much about communication as it is about design, and the end result reflects the best of both.
